About¶
The Nuno sa Punso is an old lamanlupa that lives on its own in a punso (mound). It usually doesn’t reach 3 feet, often with a long beard and bent back. Its skin is reddish and is often depicted holding a staff. 1
The Nuno sa Punso is powerful and can be friendly or hostile to the humans they encounter. They usually bring sickness to those that destroy the mound it lives in. This is the reason why people don’t touch the mounds that grow in their backyards. The victim’s eyes and hands swell, hair grows over their whole body, and their urine becomes black. 1
On the other hand, the Nuno sa Punso can also bring luck to the people it wishes to help. 1
Similar to the Ansisit, people say “Tabi Tabi po” when passing by wild places. 1
