About¶

To the Igorot, Masiken is the guardian of the underworld, which they also believe to be the world of the dead. ¹

He lives in the rocky area of a river or forest, that is part of the underworld. Because of his powers, he is considered as a bathala by the other lamanlupa ¹

The Igorot conduct the Ampasit ritual for Masiken where they offer chickens and other animals so that he does not take their sick, and instead heal them. ¹
